University open to innovations – an article about our research activities
We would like to encourage you to read the newest issue of the journal of University of Gdańsk. You can find there an interesting article on the innovations developed by our Academic society, including our research group. We investigate how to limit the spread and economic impact of bacterial phytopathogens and boost the transfer of knowledge between Academia and business. Have a nice reading:)

Our new invention got patented:)
2022.11.23 Patent Office of the Republic of Poland granted us a patent for a new invention entitled ‘Method for inactivating antibiotics in aqueous solutions‘ (Application no. P.431823 from 2019-11-15; Pat.242412)
This invention is the outcome of collaboration between University of Gdansk and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. It enables effective degradation of antibiotics from aqueous solutions. These research outcomes are the effects of realisation of NCN Sonata 15 project 2019/35/D/ST8/04107.
This invention was awarded in Eureka! DGP competition in 2022.

Dr. George DiCenzo from Queen’s University in Canada visited our research group
We are pleased to announce that from 04.03.23 until 18.03.23 we hosted in our laboratory Dr. George DiCenzo from Queen’s University in Canada. Dr DiCenzo is a specialist in molecular biology, systems biology and bioinformatics. Funding for his visit was granted in 3rd Visiting Professor Competition at Univeristy of Gdańsk. We collaborate in terms of realisation of OPUS 17 project and RNA-seq-based transcriptomic analyses on D. solani strains differing in the level of virulence. Dr. DiCenzo also prepared a course on bioinformatics and comparative genomics for PhD students of IFB UG & MUG.
MSc Michał Prusiński, PhD student of Prof. E. Łojkowska and PhD W. Śledź granted with ‘Pearls of Science’ project
We are pleased to announce that MSc Michał Prusiński, PhD student working under the supervision of Prof. Ewa Łojkowska and Dr. eng. Wojciech Śledź, was granted with ‘Pearls of Science’ project in the first edition of this competition.
Project PN/01/0050/2022 entitled “The use of plant extracts and metal nanoparticles against quarantine phytopathogens” received funding in the amount of PLN 239,866.00.
The subject of the program is to support entities of the higher education and science system in creating development conditions for exceptionally talented graduates of second-cycle studies by enabling them to conduct scientific research under the supervision of a scientific supervisor.
Congratulations!
We have implemented environmental management system according to ISO 14001
We are pleased to inform that we successfully implemented a certified environmental management system according to ISO 14001:)
